I dont even like boxing, but this is one of my favorite movies all time because of nostalgia mixed with epic ass fighting. You camt forget the story tho. Affected story about an estranged father and son with fighting robots thrown in for the gullible American audience. Couple that with bad music and the kid doing black-inflected "dance moves" with the robot, bad enough to make you feel embarrassed for even watching, and you got yourself a typical piece of affected feelgood crapola. The bird-brained demographic who enjoyed the Transformers movies and Armageddon will undoubtedly swallow this one down and ask for seconds.
I would give this movie less points but I'm afraid it's not possible. The only reason it gets two is that the action was halfway decent. Beyond that it was a waste of time. Oh, it also has the increasingly unattractive woman from the "Lost" series, which everyone likes because that's what magazines and TV told them they're supposed to like this year.

The plot is very similar to both Sly Stallone's "Over the top" and of course "Rocky" but everything is done well enough for this to be on the whole quite exciting at times, meaning this has the power to bring on enough thrills and spills along with a very enjoyable ending. So it may not have an original bone in its body, but as far as well made family friendly movies go that parents will enjoy as much as the kids, then look no further.
